Welcome To Tranquility (2007) #4
May, 2007, Wildstorm/DC Comics
Gail Simone (w), Neil Googe (a)

NOTE: This issue is for mature readers only.

Three unstoppable forces are heading for each other, and once they meet, they'll create the perfect storm smack dab in the middle of Tranquility. Sweet Sally wants to see his love Leona, Leona's mom wants to hit anyone within striking distance with a bible and Emo's back, and this time, it won't end nicely…

Gail Simone takes many of the dangling plot threads from the previous issues and ties them together as the once serene town of Tranquility begins to churn the fear and hatred into an indigestible butter. As each individual plot races to a big congregation in this issue, Simone doesn't neglect what makes this series so readable, and that's the characters themselves. The surprising heart-to-heart between Sheriff Lindo and her Deputy, Presley, is a perfect example of the calm before the storm.

Neil Googe takes what was an already impressive body of work and turns it on its ear, as he mixes in the usual nods to the past with the present day, but this time, the art oozes suspense. His panel layouts as the issue progresses - where each plot thread takes turns after each other - only add to the building drama.

Its full steam ahead going forth as this issue was definitely the best of the series so far.
