INCREDIBLE HULK #110
Greg Pak (W)/Carlo Pagulayan (A)

THE LEAN, GREEN SUMMARY

  • Amadeus Cho infiltrates Madison Square Garden, where the Hulk has his prisoners. Stopping the new, teenage-girl Scorpion’s attempt to use the new toxins S.H.I.E.L.D. has given her that would have severely damaged the Hulk, Amadeus not only explains his plans for “Gammaworld”, a haven for the Hulk built in the middle of the desert, but also that he’s more aware of Green Skin’s past than anyone else. He also advances the theory that deep inside the Hulk at all times, a part of Bruce Banner's consciousness continuously calculates the potential trajectories for any debris caused by the Hulk's battles and rampages, preventing bystanders from ever being killed.
  • Despite going as far as mentioning that members of the Illuminati group had nothing to do with detonating the bomb on the ship that sent the Hulk to Sakaar in the first place, Amadeus’ words seem to fall on deaf ears when the Hulk tells him that this is war, and that his prisoners will be forced to kill each other in his gladiator pits.
  • With the help of Angel and the rest of the Renegades, Scorpion manages to sting the Hulk, and while he’s down, Amadeus tests his theory by belittling the Hulk – every woman he’s loved who has died is his fault; that he’s nothing but a monster. Enraged, the Hulk strikes at Amadeus with an explosive attack, but when the dust clears, Amadeus is alive and unhurt, point proven. While the Hulk leaves, Hercules ponders whether or not ol’ Jade Jaws himself believes that he really won’t kill.

CLOSE SHAVE

Time and time again, Amadeus has stood in front of the Hulk and not taken a single step back in fear. Everyone’s got their limits though, and most sane folk would have called it quits after seeing the Hulk’s sword up close and personal. Not the “smart” kid though.

WHAT KIND OF MICKEY MOUSE OPERATION IS THIS?

With his grand plans to erect a safe haven where no one will bother the Hulk, Amadeus believes there’s a spot on Earth for everyone, even if a little segregation is in order. It’s a small world, after all.

WAR: WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR?

This poignant reminder says it all: Manhattan, the people of Earth, and its heroes are at war against the Hulk. As Reed Richards has shown us in the past, even the geniuses need a reminder now and then of what’s directly in front of their noses.

DUDE, HARSH!

Going to extreme lengths to prove his point, Amadeus unleashes a tongue-lashing upon a momentarily downed Hulk, and he doesn’t pull any punches either. Naturally, this leads to…

…OUCH…

He’s human, not equipped with high-tech armor, impenetrable skin or a remarkable healing factor. Yet, miraculously, Amadeus walks away from this attack, and one has to wonder just how many lives this kid has.
